We re-wrapped our van. Used a completely different design and colors. Makes the old girl look new again. Wraps are digitally printed on a vinyl decal and applied to the vehicle as a skin. All design, printing, laminating and application was done by our certified staff. New wheels will be added too. A real make over for an old van.

Another unique project finished this week. 12' diameter center court decal, 3ft.x50ft end zone decals and two 3 ft x 11 ft sideline decals all designed, printed and applied. The 12 ft. decal was produced in three sections and tiled together. The end zone graphics needed to match the special Vegas gold color that was used on the rest of the graphics. We digitally printed the vinyl and used our cad cutting equipment to render the lettering. To save material and keep cost down the letters were squeezed close together then applied individually with the kerning done manually.

The Largest Railroading Event in America is Coming to Michigan in 2009
Owosso, Mi- (8/8/08) – Coming July 24-26, 2009, the sounds of steam whistles, the clicky-clack of steel wheels on rails, the smell of coal smoke and excitement of children of all ages will take over the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, Michigan. This quaint American Town is located in the central region of Michigan just outside of Lansing. All the charm of Owosso will welcome tens of thousands of visitors from all over North America and other regions of the world to TrainFestival 2009. The theme of the weekend will be Trains, Trains, Trains!
The Steam Railroading Institute has an award winning collection of railroad equipment and railroad artifacts. The museum is an interpretive experience for visitors of all ages. During the weekend of July 24-27, 2009, visitors to the museum will experience an even greater museum. Steam and Diesel Locomotives from around the country will be on display for visitors to tour the cabs, take photos, watch demonstrations and much more. Huge model train layouts will be on display including a massive all-Lego model train. Railroad vendors from around the globe will have unique items for purchase that you won’t find any where else. Families will be able to take an all day excursion or shorter one-hour train ride behind various vintage locomotives. For the thrill seeking visitor, you will even be able to pull the throttle and blow the whistle on one of these steam locomotives. Scaled down miniature trains will be hauling passengers around the grounds of the event as well.
TrainFestival 2009 will allow visitors of all ages to experience railroading at its best. With an expected attendance of 30,000+ for the three day festival, the Steam Railroading Institute will be buzzing with railroad excitement.
Railroad equipment is currently being arranged. As soon as a final list of equipment attending the event and a schedule is finalized, it will be posted on the event website at www.trainfestival2009.com. The website will be interactive including a web blog, forums, video and much more.

Fishin' on the Muskegon

Great early spring day on the river. We began the day at Gray Drake Lodge and awoke to a snow covered landscape. Steve Janisek was our guide and did a fantastic job coping with our rusty fly shooting skills. We went 0 for 3. Fishing was slow but fun. I had a small fish on an early let off and had one good hard strike later in the day. The shore lunch was great, choice steaks cooked to perfection. I learned much from Steve. You can read "how to" books all day, but that is no substitute for good old hands on experience. Having a guide like Steve, the earning curve was a smooth curl. If you want to learn how to fish Steelhead call Steve at 989-413-2762. He will hook you up.

We picked up two choice New York strips to grill out tonight.

If you ever get near Hale, MI check out Alward's. Their bacon is homecured on site and is simply the best bacon you will ever have. In these times of pre-packaged mass produced meat products, it is sure nice to visit a real butcher shop where the meat is fresh and locally grown and the butchers are artists at their craft.

The Shiawassee County Courthouse in Corunnna, MI is undergoung a renovation. Perrin Construction contracted my company to referbish two safes. I first took measuremants and photographs. Then created a pattern and produced 24kt. gold screen printed water slide decals for the names and flourshes. This is the same way it was originally produced. The rest of the process is done with "old school" brushes and leaf gold.

Jan 19, 2009 on the lake. I took the skis out for a two mile trip. Whew, I'm not as young as I use to be. I talked to a couple ice fisherman, one from California. He was vacationing here by pulling pike from a hole in the ice. A beautful day. Bright sunlight, new fresh powdery snow. Got to love it.

This weekend it is time to take out the boat, jet ski, and hoist. It never fails to amaze me how fast it turns cold. Fishing has picked up. Had a lunker break my line last weekend before I knew what was happening. Hopefully I can retreve my lure from it this Saturday.

Last Saturday I hurried to cover the boat before the storm came. We just fixed a rip on on the quick cover we use for emergency protection. Well, the storm had other ideas in mind for that cover. The wind was about 50 mph and switchy for about 5 minutes. I even had to adjust the dock due to the wind bobbing the boat. Sunday was beautfull, 70 and scattered clouds.

It has been a busy week so far. Work has been demanding. Greg’s apartment didn’t work out. Seems the landlord had it rented to several people at once. Too bad Greg found out three days before he was to be out of his present apartment. I can’t figure it out, why would the owner give back all of his money plus $200? Something is strange there. So if you know of affordable housing in Grand Rapids downtown let me know.

Well, the remote control of my work station does work form the lake it is very slow. I have 2-3 bars on my cell but when I connected to Verizon Wireless had only 1. It does work but is extremely slow. But I am publishing this entry from the lake.

On a lighter note, Crusin’s had a great band performing at their store on Sage Lake. Wild Hair rocked the woods and brought in many a “Laker” to enjoy their music and Crusin’s fantastic Coney Dogs and ice cream. Tim and Jan real do it right. The rain didn't help but most everyone stuck around till the skys dried to enjoy more music.

Remote Control

After last weeks interrupted vacation I decided to look into the ability to remote access my computer from the lake. I already have Verizon wireless all I needed is a way to connect to my workstation. I downloaded a trial copy of Go to my PC and behold it works! I was able to easily control my computer from home. The wireless card works like a cell phone, the more bars the better connection. At home I have 2-3 bars as do I at the lake. This weekend will be the final test. I am 99% sure this will work up there because my signal strength is the same as at my home here in Corunna, MI. Lets hope so I purchased a laptop yesterday.

Summer is going fast

Well, Independence Day is over. I took a few days off to spend with my sons up at the lake. The older you get the more you cherish times with your family. As you can see in my fish photos I had a little luck late in the week. I didn’t photograph all the small ones.
Now it is time to focus on deer camp. Wood needs to be cut, blinds need dressing up and trails must be cleared of new growth. With the unreal gas prices it makes it a challenge to travel to Onaway. But Hunting is a lifestyle for me and a tradition that has been in my family for centuries. It takes $178 to fill my suburban’s tank. It takes us about 5/8 of a tank to go up and back so I have to make the best of my time in the woods.

Well, I was 8 hours into my much needed vacation, when I was called back to work. It’s 12:30 am Tuesday morning and I have been working since 4:30 pm when I came back from the lake. We received a rush job on some banners. Oh well that is what you get when you are your own boss.
I had a great Independence Day holiday weekend with my two sons.

A bad computer morning

This morning I sat down at my work station woke up my computer and a malicious software program had loaded itself to my drive. We bring in several files in each day: documents, artwork, logos, and photos...I was so busy yesterday I failed to scan each for bugs. Well after four hours of frustration and trying to read removal instructions on my adjacent computer I killed it. You can bet ALL FILES WILL BE SCANNED in the future regardless of deadline time lines!

Few fish this weekend, storms every afternoon. I bought a minnow trap in hopes of cutting down in drive time to acquire the lively bite. I used bread dough for bait but after a 30 hour soak, no minnows. Guess this just wasn’t very productive fishing weekend even though it was relaxing and enjoyable.
I'm back at work printing political yard signs again. There is sure a lot of excitement this election season on the local front. We have been printing signs for offices that normally don’t purchase this form of very effective advertising. It becomes difficult to create different looks when all the copy is the same only the name changes. But that is the challenge and it opens us up to new ideas.

Fishing weekend

It’s Friday and I’m ready to enjoy a fishing weekend if the rain /storms hold off. I finally got my boat out of the marina and into the water. Seems the starter was rusty due to an event last summer when I put the boat into the water after a short visit to the mechanic and didn’t check the sea plug. We didn’t sink, but did take on quite a bit of water. $350 and five weeks later I’m back out fishing on the lake. Let’s see about $45 per pound of fish. But if you figure the money I saved by not gassing up at the marina, I’m ahead of the game. Fishing has been slow so far this year. I can’t say why. It must be that climate change thing everyone seems to be talking about. At least that is a good scapegoat for my less than adequate fishing skills. I’ll let you know just how many fish, large or small get boated this weekend. By “large” for me I'm takling 2”-3”.
